Preparing for and adjusting to the birth of a child can be a challenging process. As the non-gestational parent, there are struggles unique to this positionality that are often experienced in addition to this transition.
Join us twice a month for a casual, peer-led space devoted to connection with other queer, non-gestational parents. Here, folks are invited to share the full spectrum of experience whether it be struggle, celebration, seeking guidance, or all of the above.
Here are some common questions/themes we might explore:
- Concern about parenting role
- Parenting within polyamorous dynamics
- Dealing with legalities around adoption in queer/poly parenting
- Navigating frustrations around comments regarding your relation to your child
- Fear of not feeling or being seen as a legitimate parent due to not having a biological connection or due to not being in a heterosexual dynamic
- Concern about connection to kiddo being less than or different due to lack of shared DNA
No One Turned Away For Lack Of Funds: Life happens & we still want you to join us if finances are the only barrier to you attending. Send an RSVP email Keelia@BirthBruja.com.
Brooke Patmor (they/them) is a full-time, full-spectrum birth worker working in occupied Olohne territory otherwise known as the San Francisco Bay Area. As a queer, fat, non-binary person themselves, Brooke is dedicated to offering inclusive care with a trauma-informed, anti-racist, and social justice framework. They support people through ALL birth outcomes including abortion, miscarriage, and stillbirth and welcome people of all identities and family structures- recognizing the added challenges of navigating the birth and postpartum world as a queer-identified person or someone with other marginalized identities. www.borncollectivesf.com
